All the pictures I’m using on this website are GIFs. Nowadays PNG, JPG or WEBM are more appropriate formats most of the time. You can get better details while having lighter files.
But GIFs, ah, are much more charming. The dithering, limited color palette and low resolution gives me all the nostalgia fix I need.
Both pictures above this text are about 15kb in size. To the left you can see a JPG, a bit more faithful to the original. And to the right is the GIF, with a 6-color indexed palette. Beautiful :) which one do you prefer?
I’m very happy to inaugurate this blog. The idea is to keep it updated as much as I can (at least once a week), and to treat it as a diary of sorts.
But I know how this works, it’s not my first rodeo with blogs and diaries. As time goes by, I’ll start losing interest and updates will be less frequent.
Hopefully, this time will be a bit different. This is not a blog made with a popular platform like Blogger or WordPress. I’m writing these lines with Notepad++ in HTML from scratch. It is a static site, and not generated with an engine like Jekyll or Hugo, but done “by hand”, keeping track of links and everything.
That is already an incentive for me. It’s more interesting and fun. Also, my native language is not English and although I’m used to communicate with it, I’m far from being a native writer. So, I’ll get to practice that too.
